DC Leadership 1000 Scholarship Eligibility

The College Success Foundation - DC Leadership 1000 Scholarship is a scholarship program funded by individuals, foundations, or businesses and provides four-year scholarships to deserving students from Washington DC who need assistance attending college. A College Success Foundation DC Leadership 1000 Scholarship can be customized around a general set of requirements requested by the donor. Scholarships are provided by benefactors and are generally $5,000 per year for up to five years for a maximum of $25,000. To be eligible to apply for the DC Leadership 1000 and/or Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation Scholarship you must meet the following criteria listed below. Please note: If you are an Achievers Scholarship recipient, you are not eligible for this scholarship.

Minimum Application Guidelines

  • Plan to attend, or currently be attending, an eligible four-year college or university (Students attending a community or technical college will be considered if they are transferring to an eligible four-year college/university for the fall of 2018).
  • Plan to enroll as a college freshman, sophomore or junior in Fall 2018. If you have more than 60 quarter credits or more than 30 semester credits in college at the end of fall term 2017, you are not eligible.
  • Plan to file or have already filed a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), if eligible. If not eligible to submit a FAFSA, alternative financial information must be submitted to the College Success Foundation-DC, if requested.
  • Have a family income for 2017 that does not exceed the amount listed by family size in this chart.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative high school GPA through fall quarter/semester, if applying as a high school senior.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.75 cumulative college GPA through fall quarter/semester, if applying as a college student.
  • Plan to enroll or actually be enrolled full-time as a college student, 12 credits per quarter or equivalent for semester.
  • Must attend or have graduated from a District of Columbia Public School or District of Columbia Public Charter High School. If applying for the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation Scholarship, you must attend a DCPS, DCPCHS or a Prince George's County public high school.
  • Please note: DC Achievers, International students, students on foreign exchange or visas and out-of-state residents are not eligible.


The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday April 13, 2018.

The 2018-2019 application will go live at 8:00a.m. EST on Monday, February 26, 2018.
