In the District of Columbia, 43 percent of DC Achievers Cohort 1 Scholars who enrolled in college have graduated with their bachelor’s degrees within six years, compared to the only 5 percent of high school graduates from Wards 7 and 8 who earned a credential, associate degree or bachelor’s degree within five years.

Cumulative Scholarships Awarded

Between 2008 and 2014, CSF-DC awarded 1,429 scholarships to 1,428 low-income, historically underrepresented students in the District of Columbia.

Cumulative Scholarship Dollars Disbursed

By the end of 2014, CSF - DC had disbursed nearly $33 million in scholarship dollars in the District of Columbia.  In 2014 alone, CSF - DC disbursed over $6.9 million.

Cumulative Bachelor's Degree Graduates

By the end of 2014, 171 DC Achievers Scholars, who graduated from high school in 2008-11, and 38 DC Leadership 1000 Scholars, who graduated from high school in 2009-11, had earned their bachelor’s degrees.  Over 700 more are still attending college achieving their degrees.




Presented outcomes are calculated by the College Success Foundation’s (CSF) Research and Evaluation Department using data from CSF’s Data Warehouse. The CSF Data Warehouse integrates data from both internal and external data sources: CSF’s scholarship disbursement system (FAST), Chateau Ste. Michelle and Costco Scholarships university reports, CSF’s student record management database (Education Edge), and National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) college enrollment and graduation data.  These official statistics are also included in CSF’s Data Book, which is updated annually based on the December 31, 2014 census.
