Achievers High Schools

Six District of Columbia High Schools Have Been Selected as “Achievers High Schools” :

Anacostia Senior High School
Ballou Senior High School
H. D. Woodson Senior High School
Maya Angelou Public Charter School (Evans)
Friendship Collegiate Academy Public Charter School
Thurgood Marshall Public Charter School

Must a student be attending an Achievers High School to apply for the District of Columbia Achievers Scholarship program?
Yes, these are the only high schools in the program.

Will the same Achievers High Schools remain in the Program from year to year?
Yes, the commitment to these high schools and their students will extend through the 15-year duration of the Achievers Scholarship Program. The program's components of redesign, strengthening college awareness and providing scholarship opportunities will take years to fully develop. As communities change, so will schools, and both the DC College Success Foundation and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will continue to work with the selected Achievers High Schools and their surrounding communities.

When can I apply for this scholarship?
Juniors at the Achievers High Schools may apply for the Achievers Scholarship each fall. The program will rely on the high school to determine junior status. The application period generally runs from September until November.

Fall 2007 Achievers Scholarship Application
The deadline for submitting complete application packets for this year has passed. Applications for the Achievers Scholarship will be available from the College Preparatory Advisor at each Achievers High School in the fall of 2008.
